This is a skillful basic recipe, but I agreed with others that it had also much vinegar, and not enough flavour. I cooked mine in the deadening cooker on depression about nine hours and that was good. I added brown saccharide instead of white, garlic, liquid smoke, ketchup and dijon mustard. That made it ameliorate.

WOW!!! Couldn't ask for more than: quick and easy to prepare, throw it all in the crockpot, ready when returning from piece of work at the end of the day, house smells wonderful, a totally deeeeeeelicious repast, and after dinner my teen son printed out the recipe and taped it to the refrigerator door with a note which read: DON'T LOSE THIS RECIPE!!! (Nifty with potato salad or coleslaw and a sliver of watermelon.)

THIS RECIPE IS A WINNER!!! First I tried this recipe on the family. Concensus=SUPERB! (Fifty-fifty the kids loved it.) Then it was my featured dish at a huge family reunion, and though I'd fabricated 175% as much as I idea I'd need, I found that I had to quickly thaw out what I'd frozen up the twenty-four hour period before in order to satisfy the crowd. It was that expert!! HINT: I found that serving is best with a leaf of lettuce on the bottom bun, which keeps the juices from softening the bun as well much. Otherwise, don't change a thing. This recipes freezes well besides. And incidentally, I didn't stand a chance of keeping this recipe a underground.

Delicious! Cooked a five lb chuck roast in the slow cooker thinking leftovers would be good for lunch the next day. Wrong!! NO leftovers. Dandy balance of flavors. Substituted stale minced onion, and added some hot sauce for a petty kick. Everyone really enjoyed this recipe. Thanks for sharing.

This was okay. I cooked the beef in the crockpot on low all twenty-four hours. I thickened the sauce on the stovetop, only ended upwardly adding bottled barbecue sauce. This should exist called "Shredded Beef Sandwiches", equally they are definitely Non barbecued. I suggest using crushed tomatoes rather than diced, omitting the extra water, and swapping brown saccharide or molasses for white carbohydrate. A piffling mustard wouldn't hurt, either.

This tasted incredible! I changed it quite a bit but the recipe was a good starting indicate. I used chicken rather than beef and simmered for an hour and a half. Then I shredded the chicken and mixed it in with the juice which had thickened quite a bit. I added more than vinegar, Worcestershire sauce (used worcestershire for chicken rather than regular worcestershire), 1/4 cup of love apple sauce, 1/4 loving cup of charcoal-broil sauce and a little scrap of h2o and simmered that for most 25 minutes. The meat was and then tender and full of flavor. I will probably use the meat for many recipes in the future, not just sandwiches. Thank you!

Later on cooking overnight on high in the crock-pot, I doctored information technology upwards a chip, just very tender and just the right wet afterward simmering shredded meat in juices for an boosted thirty min & serving with tongs to shake off excess moisture. BBQ sauce on the side just non necessary. Used brown saccharide instead of white.

This was awful - the meat itself was okay, but how was I to make a Barbecue sauce out of the lycopersicon esculentum pieces floating in grease? I took the meat out after cooking, and then shredded and fabricated my own barbecue sauce to put over the meat. I followed the recipe exactly.
01/25/2005
Fabricated this exactly every bit directed in recipe. Fantabulous. Used Delmonte petite diced tomatoes with garlic, olive oil and basil.

Oh so GOOD and simple.

This came out ok but it wasn't very barbeque tasting. I boiled down the liquid at the end and later on using the immersion blender, did come up up with a thin sauce that tasted pretty skilful just didn't really taste similar BBQ.
06/16/2010
I was a little skeptical because I was agape it the liquid would evaporate earlier the meat was as well tender to shred or it would be too watery, only it turned out just fine. And the flavor was wonderful. I didn't get a vinegary taste at all. I wouldn't alter a thing well-nigh this recipe.

This was a dandy recipe!!! I've tried other versions and have found them to be dry and tough. This was moist and the meat fell apart. I actually cooked it longer than the 3 hours and add some dijon mustard and garlic for extra flavor. My son and husband LOVED IT!!!!!!!
xi/06/2002
This recipe was not bad! I used my slow cooker and simply added an extra ane/two cup of water and cooked it on low most 8 hours. I too added a little charcoal-broil sauce afterward it was cooked.
11/07/2008
I was really disappointed. The meat came out so runny. It was more than like a soup. I followed the recipe to a tee except reduced the corporeality of vinegar. It had a decent season but was merely actually runny.
07/06/2010
The flavor was skilful, but I recollect I was expecting the end result to exist a red sauce - like a cerise BBQ sauce and information technology was not. I simply added a little ketchup and it turned out just fine.
02/24/2008
Hands downward this is the all-time barbecued beef sandwich I've ever eaten. And it's easy to prepare.
05/10/2005
WOW WOW WOW this is an amazing recipe. Love information technology!!!!!
12/13/2004
Very good! I would perchance substitute brown sugar for white next fourth dimension, and maybe add some ketchup to give it more of a "Barbecue" flavor. All in all, very proficient, and a great culling to pot roast for a chuck roast!
08/05/2005
I'k not one for juicy meat on bread, but I did bask the meat. The side by side twenty-four hour period I reheated the meat and it tasted even better, I had information technology with some corn tortillas!

This recipe makes awesome BBQ beef! I used a little less vinegar, added a little yellow mustard and ketchup at the end.. And of grade... Tabasco!!! But wonderful eating!
10/16/2006
At that place seemed to be a huge amount of juices at the end of the cooking time and so I tuckered the juices and added a bottle of Bullseye Original BBQ sauce to make thicker. It was PERFECT once I added the BBQ sauce! Miscellaneous tip...if the meat is still not tender enough at the end of the cooking fourth dimension, turn the estrus to loftier and cook for another 30 minutes to an hour and then shredding will be no problem!
04/19/2007
Too vinegary and not much other flavour. The other beefiness barbeque recipe on this site is much better.
04/07/2011
Wondering if anyone has ever tried this with boneless/skinless chicken breasts? Cheers!
05/13/2007
This recipe is not bad! Added brown sugar instead of white sugar. My entire family loved it. Served leftovers over rice the next day.
xi/27/2006
Crawly! The whole family loved it. What a great meal. Used a bread and butter pot roast on the stovetop. Had to turn once, check bottom early and frequently and turn down heat a little to prevent burning. Used less vinegar and added a fiddling water along the style. Stop result was a new family favorite.
07/16/2005
Although the flavor was good - I used the advice of many here and did not drain my tomatoes - then information technology was too much similar a stew and I could non pour it on the rolls for the sandwiches. I tried to brand repairs by adding a bottle of bbq sauce - but still too soupy. Not a swell success for me.
04/29/2004
Good, bones recipe. Added chocolate-brown sugar and a footling scrap of regular erstwhile BBQ sauce. Made a lot. Also reduced the onion corporeality downward to 1.
01/05/2006
I followed to the T. The juice from the tomatoes , vinegar and water dried out and I had to keep calculation water. The medium estrus caused the meat to burn on 1 side. The meat did non get very tender. The flavopr was ok and I added more sugar and some ketchup to recipe at the end afterwards I shredded the meat to give it some juice. It had a slight burnt taste and was a footling tough.
10/17/2006
Then Piece of cake and Delicious!
06/22/2002
This was very tasty, we ate it over rice. The kids loved it and we had left overs the next night.
06/sixteen/2005
I apply chicken breasts instead of beef, and serve this either in tortilla shells or on potatoe rolls. Very succulent and Very easy.
11/18/2002
This is very simple and tastes amazing!!! I did, however use larger tomato pieces since the kids don't like them. That made it like shooting fish in a barrel to selection them out of the child's servings. My 4 year old and 1 year sometime loved this!
03/20/2003
THIS IS TASTY, THO I DID CHANGE IT A Bit. I USED BONELESS Chicken BREASTS INSTEAD OF Beefiness. I TOOK THE ADVICE OF A FEW OTHER REVIEWS AND CUT DOWN ON THE VINEGAR AND ADDED BBQ SAUCE WHEN IT WAS DONE.
03/26/2004
This was very good, merely I prefer pork for this kind of dish.
12/05/2002
this was a skilful recipe merely non what i expected. i used the crockpot prepare on high for three hours. i got impatient (and didn't fissure the lid as suggested) and boiled it on the stove for 15 minutes. it was good on hogie breadstuff with bbq sauce.
02/28/2002
This was awesome. Non real fast to make, but it didn't matter. Everyone loved it in my house, including the kids.
11/16/2001
This was as easy as the recipe said it was. Corking flavor, and it smelled so practiced while it was cooking. My daughter loved it. I will definitely make information technology again.

07/14/2001
Excellent prepared in the crockpot. I used a chuck roast. Everyone enjoyed barbeque indoors.
03/24/2002
